Crude Steel Production Report

In March 2025, the world crude steel production for the 69 countries reporting to the World Steel Association (worldsteel) reached 166.1 million tons (Mt), representing a 2.9% increase compared to March 2024.
Crude Steel Production by Region:
• Africa: 1.9 Mt, a 0.6% increase from March 2024.
• Asia and Oceania: 123.6 Mt, up 3.9%.
• European Union (27): 11.7 Mt, reflecting a 0.2% increase.
• Other Europe: 3.6 Mt, a decrease of 7.2%.
• Middle East: 5.3 Mt, up 1.9%.
• North America: 9.2 Mt, an increase of 1.4%.
• Russia and Other CIS, including Ukraine: 7.1 Mt, down 3.5%.
• South America: 3.7 Mt, reflecting a 6.5% increase.
Top 10 Steel-Producing Countries:
• China: 92.8 Mt, a 4.6% increase from March 2024.
• India: 13.8 Mt, an increase of 7.0%.
• Japan: 7.2 Mt, up 0.2%.
• United States: 6.7 Mt, down 1.5%.
• Russia: Estimated production of 6.2 Mt, a decrease of 3.2%.
• South Korea: 5.0 Mt, down 5.3%.
• Türkiye: 3.1 Mt, down 2.8%.
• Germany: Estimated production of 3.1 Mt, down 11.7%.
• Brazil: 2.9 Mt, reflecting a 6.6% increase.
• Iran: 3.3 Mt, up 3.7%.
