Viscosity Grade

Viscosity Grade

Bitumen is classified based on its absolute viscosity at 60 °C or its kinematic viscosity at 135 °C. The standard unit of measurement for dynamic viscosity is the poise, whereas kinematic viscosity is expressed in centi-Stokes. The purity grading of bitumen adheres to the AASHTO M226 and ASTM D3381 standards. For detailed testing procedures and criteria, please refer to Tables 1-1 to 1-6.
