Pentane is a colorless liquid characterized by the molecular formula C₅H₁₂. It is available in both isomeric and normal forms. Pentane serves a variety of applications, including its use in motor fuels and extraction processes, as a blowing agent in plastic foams, as a precursor for the synthesis of other chemicals, and as a solvent in laboratory and chemical reactions.

Its applications extend to low-temperature thermometers, artificial ice production, particle dispersal in sprays, as well as in lighting, disinfection, and pest control.

The pentane produced typically consists of 70% normal pentane and 30% isopentane, with the composition adjustable according to customer specifications.
