Crude Steel Production Report – July 2025

In July 2025, crude steel production across the 70 countries reporting to the World Steel Association (worldsteel) totaled 150.1 million tons (Mt), representing a 1.3% decline compared with July 2024.

Regional Crude Steel Production

• Africa: Produced 1.9 Mt, representing a 2.0% decline compared with July 2024.
• Asia and Oceania: Produced 110.4 Mt, a decrease of 1.9%.
• European Union (27): Produced 10.2 Mt, down 7.0%.
• Other Europe: Produced 3.6 Mt, an increase of 2.6%.
• Middle East: Produced 4.4 Mt, up 27.7%.
• North America: Produced 9.4 Mt, an increase of 5.8%.
• Russia & Other CIS + Ukraine: Produced 6.7 Mt, a decline of 5.1%.
• South America: Produced 3.6 Mt, down 4.5%.

Crude Steel Production in the Top 10 Producing Countries

• China: Produced 79.7 Mt, a decline of 4.0% compared with July 2024.
• India: Produced 14.0 Mt, an increase of 14.0%.
• Japan: Produced 6.9 Mt, down 2.5%.
• United States: Produced 7.1 Mt, up 4.8%.
• Russia: Estimated production of 5.7 Mt, a decrease of 2.4%.
• South Korea: Produced 5.3 Mt, down 4.7%.
• Türkiye: Produced 3.2 Mt, an increase of 4.2%.
• Germany: Produced 2.7 Mt, a decline of 13.7%.
• Brazil: Estimated production of 2.9 Mt, down 5.5%.
• Iran: Produced 2.2 Mt, an increase of 29.7%.
