Crude Steel Production – August 2025

According to data reported by 70 countries to the World Steel Association (worldsteel), global crude steel production reached 145.3 million tonnes (Mt) in August 2025, representing a 0.3% increase compared to August 2024.

 

Crude Steel Production by Region

  • Africa: 1.8 Mt, a decrease of 3.8% compared to August 2024.
  • Asia and Oceania: 107.7 Mt, an increase of 0.4%.
  • European Union (27): 8.8 Mt, a decrease of 2.8%.
  • Other Europe: 3.7 Mt, an increase of 2.1%.
  • Middle East: 3.8 Mt, an increase of 21.5%.
  • North America: 9.1 Mt, an increase of 1.6%.
  • Russia & Other CIS Countries including Ukraine: 6.7 Mt, a decrease of 4.9%.
  • South America: 3.6 Mt, a decrease of 5.0%.

 

Top 10 Steel-Producing Countries

  • China: 77.4 Mt, a decrease of 0.7% compared to August 2024.
  • India: 14.1 Mt, an increase of 13.2%.
  • United States: 7.2 Mt, an increase of 3.2%.
  • Japan: 6.6 Mt, a decrease of 3.4%.
  • Russia: estimated 5.5 Mt, a decrease of 4.6%.
  • South Korea: 5.2 Mt, a decrease of 6.1%.
  • Türkiye: 3.4 Mt, an increase of 7.9%.
  • Germany: 2.6 Mt, a decrease of 10.5%.
  • Brazil: 2.9 Mt, a decrease of 4.6%.
  • Iran: 1.6 Mt, an increase of 17.9%.
